Item 8S0001. This item is a Lionel 2-6-2 number 1668 steamer. Lionel made this pre-world war II steam engine from 1937 to 1942. The gauge is 027. The Lionel design was based on the Raymond Loewy Torpedo Engine of the Pennsylvania Railroad that used the J-3a Hudson boiler, frame and drivers. Loewy also designed Pennsy's now famous GG-1 locomotive. The accompanying Lionel tender for the 1668 was a 1689T commonly referred to as a coffin tender because of its flat rectangular shape.
We do not have the tender and are trying to find one. The appearance of the locomotive is excellent. In fact considering the age of the locomotive it might have been repainted.
